Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it called Hundred Sparks Pictures? The name Hundred Sparks has a personal history. Scott served in the U.S. Army in Korea, where he repaired the M270A1 Multiple Launch Rocket System. Years later, the Korean hwacha, a 16th century multiple-rocket launcher, provided the inspiration for the Hundred Sparks identity.
One platform. A hundred sparks. And, hopefully, a few stories worth launching.
Is Hundred Sparks a faith-based production company? Not exclusively. Hundred Sparks is interested in honest stories about people, and sometimes faith is an important part of those people's lives. We believe religious characters can be portrayed with the same complexity, humor, dignity, and imperfections as anyone else. Ward Bound happens to be a story in which faith plays an important role, but Hundred Sparks isn't limited to religious projects.
What kind of stories does Hundred Sparks tell?Character-driven comedy and drama about relationships, friendship, family, faith, culture, and the unexpected turns of ordinary life. We're especially drawn to stories that find humor without losing affection for the people at their center.
Does Hundred Sparks accept unsolicited scripts or pitches? Are you currently looking for actors or crew? No. Hundred Sparks Pictures is not currently accepting unsolicited scripts, treatments, pitches, or other creative material. Any casting, crew, or production opportunities will be announced through official Hundred Sparks channels. We aren't currently accepting unsolicited résumés, reels, or audition materials unless a specific opportunity has been posted.
What makes Hundred Sparks different? We believe ordinary people are interesting enough.
Hundred Sparks Pictures creates character-driven stories about people with families, friendships, beliefs, flaws, jobs, bad dates, good intentions, and plans that rarely work out the way they expected.
We aren't interested in turning characters into stereotypes or mouthpieces. Faith can be sincere without becoming a sermon. Family can matter without being sentimental. People can disagree without becoming villains. And everyone gets to be funny.
Our goal is simple: tell entertaining stories about recognizable people and let the characters—not an agenda—drive the story.
What is Hundred Sparks currently working on?Our current project is Ward Bound, an original half-hour single-camera comedy created by Scott Walker about two single men navigating friendship, dating, faith, and adulthood along Utah's Wasatch Front.
